I heard back from McNair and I've now moved onto the next step of the process. Yay! Apparently, there's also an interview portion, which I'm scheduled to do on Thursday.
School has eaten-up all of my time. I have an eight-page paper on Blake's Epistemology due Friday and I've got two novels to read. Woo!
This week a colleague and I worked on a manifesto for the literary theory governing my research: Pop Modernism. Thus far we have decided that we want to focus on texts which are in dialogue, or are derivations from original texts, and we want to examine those new texts reflect an attempt to reconcile literature with present sociocultural moments. Because, after all, literature is usually in dialogue with other literature rather than life. Conversation became problematized when we realized that we know what we want to discuss, but we don't know what comprises a literary theory, so our next meeting is probably going to address that issue.
Anyway, back to the paper.
